Meet our staff

The DP5th staff includes a wide-ranging team of professionals who practice on-site to make sure you receive the best and most convenient care.

Endodontist (root canal specialist): Root canal therapy has come a long way over the past few years. Thanks to advances in surgical technologies and equipment, most can be done in one painless visit. Using a specialized microscope and the latest rotary instrumentation, our staff endodontist is equipped to perform routine root canals and apicoectomies (surgical root canals) as well as advanced diagnostics.

Periodontist (gum specialist): In the last few years, periodontal treatment has taken on a fundamental importance for general health, as research has established a link between inflammation of the gum tissues and heart disease, diabetes and osteoporosis.

The DP5th staff periodontist specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of gum disease. Currently an instructor in Columbia University’s implant division, our periodontist is a leading provider of the Straumann dental implant system, and will guide you through any surgeries you require. He also offers several innovative nonsurgical periodontal treatments, and he focuses on slowing the disease before it worsens and preventing it from coming back.

Ceramist/Dental technician: Ceramist/Dental technician: We work with artistic, high quality and experienced technicians and ceramists in smile design and cosmetic dentistry, including porcelain veneers, all porcelain crowns and onlays, dental implants, and more. Because our office maintains a fully equipped in-house laboratory, our ceramists, when needed, come to our office to custom color or shape restorations while you are in the chair. This enables us to achieve superior esthetic results while minimizing the number of patient visits needed to complete treatment.

Dental hygienists: One of the key focus areas in our practice is the prevention of future dental problems. Our hygienists are trained to teach preventive techniques that go beyond brushing and flossing, including special pre-rinses, mouth washes and adult fluoride treatments. They are also trained to recognize the warning signs of oral cancer and other diseases, and to address sources of potential damage such as clenching, nail biting, grinding, smoking and dietary habits, along with medical problems like esophageal reflux, diabetes and eating disorders.

With the recent links found between periodontal disease, diabetes and heart disease, dental hygiene has taken on even more importance in keeping the inflammation of gingivitis and periodontitis to an absolute minimum.

Our hygiene staff is dedicated to teaching you about your mouth in a warm, non-intimidating way and providing gentle care during visits.

Dental assistants: With over 25 years of combined experience in our office, our dental assistants pride themselves on knowing our patients individually and making each visit as comfortable as possible. They work hard to anticipate your needs and are always ready to help in any way they can.

Reception and front desk staff: Our front desk staff works hard to accommodate our patients’ schedules and cater to their needs. They understand how to handle emergencies and do their best to ensure that each patient is seen on a timely basis. Our insurance liaison will handle your claims expeditiously, with an eye to maximizing your coverage benefits.
